Holiday Season on the way! Preparing for the last month of the year

We are now just a few days away until the end of this month, only to give the welcome to December accompanied by the greatest holidays of the whole year. Hanukah, The winter solstice, Kwanza, Christmas Eve and New Year's Eve are the strongest dates that represent and compress this whole month and that remarks the end of this wonderful year.

Since the beginning of this month many families start to decorate their houses to make themselves be known that they are actively participating in this worldwide celebration, some families start to decorate their houses days before December even begins.

 

Christmas is traditionally celebrated as a religious holiday, this involves traditional customs such as decorating Christmas trees, putting lights on shops and houses, getting gifts from Santa, church services and family dinners. Some places even hold Christmas parades.

It's a federal holiday and is observed by every US state.

In the US involves a great many types of celebration. For Christians, it means church services and social gatherings. Even people who do not celebrate the religious aspects of the holiday tend to enjoy gift-giving, having family gatherings and feasting together.

For Jews Christmas is not a Jewish holiday, instead, they celebrate Hanukah An eight-day holiday celebrating the rededication of the Temple in Jerusalem at the time of the Maccabean Revolt against the Seleucid Empire. this is remarked with different customs commonly known by their culture.

For more traditional African Americans, they choose to celebrate Kwanza a celebration that honors African heritage and is observed from December 26 to January 1, culminating in a feast and gift-giving. Each of the seven days it lasts is dedicated to one of their seven principles and symbolism.

For student's, it means a long break from school or college and is a popular time to go home and visit family. Putting colorful lights in one's house it's a very popular way to celebrate Christmas in the US.

Being the darkest time of year in the northern hemisphere, the holiday turns into a celebration of lights, with complex and sometimes very expensive displays decorating homes. Competitions for the best lighting setup are fun and common ways to celebrate the holiday!

The Christmas tree is another popular Christmas tradition in the US. Artificial or natural it's common to see a conifer tree decorating the living room of most homes, these trees are decorated with colorful lights and with ornaments that are in oftentimes also family heirlooms.

There is also a National Christmas tree in the US which is lit up by the president at the beginning of December.

 

Christmas song are popular as well, like the traditional song such as ''Silent Night'' and ''The Twelve Days of Christmas'' along with many others that were once common to see carolers go door to door to sing Christmas carols, but now it's a rarity, unless you go to popular plaza's were sometimes they still go. For a celebration that's closer to the heart of the city, you can go to Discovery Green Park and take part in all the fun celebrations they will be hosting.

Also, the Houston Zoo will be transformed into a snowy paradise filled with more than two million lights and a great variety of attractions including the Holiday Train Village

Many of the city's beautiful restaurants will be hosting New Year's Eve parties. On these, you are advised to make reservations. After you do, be prepared to enjoy delicious food, all kinds of exquisite drinks and an opportunity to end the year with a bang when the New Year's Eve Countdown begins!

 

Many theaters have scheduled plays Like Houston's favorite A Christmas Carol, the classic story of Christmas by Charles Dickens, The Nutcracker's ballet recital at the Wortham Theater by Stanton Welch a timeless classic set to Tchaikovsky’s splendid score, The brand-new touring production of A Charlie Brown Christmas Live on Stage by Charles M. Schulz featuring everyone’s favorite Peanuts gang.
